Dear Editor:
"Dear Abby" offensive, please! In an attempt to provide a respectful, non-offensive response to Barbara Shoun's question, I say yes; you are the only News Tribune reader who is fed up with "Dear Abby."
Personally, I find Abby to be much less offensive than many of the letters to the editor. If I don't like what I see, I don't read on. Abby's column is reflective of many questions on the minds of her daily readers. I have found Abby's responses to be caring, kind and, most often, wise.
"Abby," also known as Jeannie Phillips, extended the kindest of gestures to me with a personal phone call in response to a letter I had written to her. I'd share the particulars, but I would not want to offend anyone.
If Ms. Shoun finds Abby to be offensive, she doesn't have to read her column. Period!
