Jefferson City official: Sales tax receipts improving

Jefferson City sales tax figures are improving, but questions still remain about a large deficit from earlier in the year.

During the monthly meeting of the Jefferson City Council’s finance committee, Finance Director Steve Schlueter presented the sales-tax receipts for April and May. Both months came in significantly higher than the budgeted projections, combining for more than $330,000 over budget projections for the two months.

If JC is still a little short, maybe they can use some of the $800,000 they kept from the ambulance proprety tax. Some more speed traps would probably help cash flow.

Sell some dock spaces at the Jeff City Hall Yacht facility out at the Binder Lake.
