Highway patrol lifts tournament ban on 2 lakes

BRANSON, Mo. (AP) - Regattas and fishing tournaments will return to Table Rock Lake and Lake Taneycomo, but officials are warning boaters that high water levels still make the lakes dangerous.

The Missouri Water Patrol had cancelled events at the two southwest Missouri lakes two weeks ago after flooding caused the lakes to reach record levels.

The water patrol says water levels on the lakes are still well above average. The amount of floating debris has dropped significantly, but boaters are still urged to be cautious.

Many boat ramps and marinas around the lake are still inaccessible because of the high water.
