INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (AP) — A 26-year-old Kansas City man convicted of killing four people, including two young nephews of his ex-girlfriend, has been sentenced to four life prison terms without a chance of parole.
A Jackson County sentenced Gevante Anderson on Friday. It was the judge’s only option after prosecutors decided not to seek the death penalty.
A jury convicted Anderson in March of first-degree murder in the deaths of 7-year-old Gerard Clemons Jr., 10-year-old Amir Clemons, 21-year-old Precious Triplett and her boyfriend, 33-year-old Andre Jones Sr.
Prosecutors say Anderson went to Triplett’s apartment and killed the four in a fit of rage. The two boys were staying with Triplett, their aunt, because they were on spring break.
Gerard was stabbed 131 times, while Amir was shot and stabbed more than 40 times.
