Your Opinion: Why term limits are needed

Dear Editor:

We need term limits now more than ever before because of how we taxpayers are being finagled out of so much in the way of taxes to help companies out and all the perks given to legislators.

Many more of these over-paid people should be placed on the cutting block and weaned out of the legislative bodies. Let’s replace them with those who really want to serve in the best interests of the people.

And they certainly were not voted into office with the stipulation to serve until the end of time.

It has been noticed that some of the newly elected legislators jumped immediately into the pot and started trying to get bills passed because of their self-interests in their businesses. They certainly were not working for us.

People newly elected to the process of governing others should sit back and study those who certainly have more experience in the governing process and not leap so quickly into the fray. Listen and observe should be the motto.

I personally am opposed to this nuclear ballyhoo and have noticed in certain papers from other localities nationwide, in other small towns, and in our local paper that many readers (letter writers and columnists) appear to let their voices echo my sentiments exactly. Isn’t it best to be safe than sorry?

You have to just look across the ocean in another foreign country and see what is happening in Japan.

I believe we should stay the course the way we are now going and save our country for future generations to come after us.

Give this a great deal of thought.
