MARSHFIELD, Mo. - Helias golfer Michael Huber is headed back to the state tournament for a third straight season.
The senior finished second at Wednesday's Class 3 Sectional 3 tournament with an even-par 70 to advance to the state tournament.
Helias shot 329 as a team and finished third.
Boonville won the event with a 320. Logan-Rogersville was second with a 321. The top two teams advance to the state tournament.
Other finishers for Helias included Brett Griggs (82), Jack Blaise (88) and Brendon Tomblinson (89).
Huber finished 34th at last year's state tournament with rounds of 79 and 81.
The Class 3 state tournament is May 16-17 at the Silo Ridge Golf Club in Bolivar.
Eugene wins sectional
FULTON - Eugene advanced to the state tournament with a 332 Wednesday in the Class 2 Sectional 2 tournament at Tanglewood Golf Course. Hermann finished second with a 345.
Samuel Berendzen was the Eagles' top finisher. He shot a 7-over par 79 and finished in fifth place.
Cuba's Davdid Abolt was the individual winner with a 2-over par 74.
Other Eugene finishers included Drew Geritz (83, t 8th), Donovan Doerhoff (84, 15th), Greg Connell (86, t 18th) and Ryan Doerhoff (102, 41st).
Southern Boone had three individuals qualify for state. Those include Southern Boone's Kyle Stone (76, 2nd), Blake Lammers (83, 8th) and Mason Nistendirk (85, 16th).
Fatima's Connor Muenks (86, 18th) was one shot short of qualifying for state.
The Class 2 state tournament is May 16-17 at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield.
Tipton takes second
JOPLIN - Tipton is headed the the state championships after finishing second Wednesday in the Class 1 Sectional 3 tournament at Schifferdecker Golf Course with a 330.
Sacred Heart won the tournament with a 313.
Zachery Combs and Isasc Gerber led the Cardinals with a pair of 9-over 80s to tie for eighth. Ethan Koechner tied for 14th with an 84, while Grant Davis tied for 17th with an 86. Aaron Ray finished 19th with an 87.
The Class 1 state tournament is May 16-17 at Sedalia Country Club.
