'Fast Five' leaves competition in dust overseas

LOS ANGELES (AP - "Fast Five" and its combination of babes, brawn and breathtaking action left all others in the rearview mirror with a turbocharged haul of $130.4 million for the weekend in nearly 6,300 international theaters and a worldwide total of $180.2 million.

"Thor" is preparing for its North American debut this weekend but has already enthralled foreign audiences with a second-place finish of $77.7 million in 43 territories, according to Rentrak Theatrical. Boasting Academy Award winners Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins, as well as beefy Australian Chris Hemsworth as Thor, the Marvel Comics big screen epic should be a mainstay on the international charts for weeks to come. The film has earned $116.2 million worldwide through the weekend.

The angry birds of "Rio" continue to nest themselves in the top five with another stellar showing of $41.1 million in their fourth weekend of release.
