Group seeks to improve ties between LU, community

Will it take a village?

Lincoln University has been known as many things since it was founded in 1866.

For more than 145 years, the institution started by members of the 62nd and 65th United States Colored Infantries has been a mainstay in Jefferson City.

But in 2011, the community wants it to be more.

As part of the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce’s economic development strategic plan “Transformation,” one of the nine action teams is focusing on ways to improve Lincoln University and its relationship with Jefferson City.
