5 Table Rock Dam gates closed, road closed again

BRANSON, Mo. (AP) - The flow of floodwater out of Table Rock Dam has slowed considerably.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers closed five of the 10 floodgates and lowered the remaining gates on Sunday. The 10 gates were opened last week after record rainfall around southwest Missouri. The lake level late Sunday was just above 930 feet, nearly a foot below flood stage.

KY3-TV reports that engineers say if it rains just a few more inches, they'll have to reopen the gates.

Meanwhile, the main highway across the dam will close for two weeks starting Tuesday. The corps says closing Missouri 165/265 will allow repairs to an area around a soil slide on the dam embankment. The slide did not affect the dam, but caused concern about the safety of the road.
