U.S. 54 accident injures two

A Jefferson City man was flown to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of serious injuries after a two-vehicle wreck Wednesday afternoon in Cole County.

According to Missouri Highway Patrol reports, John Ehrardt, 83, failed to yield to a vehicle driven by Dustin Hollandsworth, 24, Eldon, at eastbound U.S. 54 and Honey Creek Road around 3:25 p.m. Ehrardt attempted to cross the road and went into the path of Hollandsworth, who struck Ehrardt's vehicle on the driver's side.

Hollandsworth was treated for moderate injuries at Capital Region Medical Center.

Ehrardt was listed in critical condition Wednesday evening. Neither man was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred.
