TJMS student caught with marijuana

Jefferson City officers were called to Thomas Jefferson Middle School, where an eighth-grade girl was found to be in possession of marijuana.

School officials said one of the principals found some marijuana in a vial in the student's jacket around lunch time.

The student had handed the jacket to another student, and the principal noticed the exchange. Believing something wasn't right, the principal later asked to see the jacket and found the vial. The student was taken to the Prenger Juvenile Attention Center. She faces up to a 10-day suspension and possibly further action from the superintendent.
