The Jefferson City Wastewater Division cleaned and stopped a sanitary sewer overflow in the 400 block of Valley View Court Wednesday afternoon.
City officials said city work crews noticed the overflow after 3 p.m.
The overflow caused a discharge into an unnamed tributary to the west branch of Wears Creek.
City officials estimated there 250 gallons that were discharged and added it did not take much work to stop it.
The cause of the discharge is currently under investigation and the incident has been reported to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
City officials said they had performed many repairs in the basin where this occurred.
