Your Opinion: Views on Proposition A Letter 2

Dear Editor:

It is beyond me why folks are picking the negatives out of passing Proposition A instead of looking at the positives.

• Voting yes on Proposition A would allow those who want Allied Waste to remain as their trash service to keep them. It would also allow those who do not want Allied Waste to remain as their trash service to choose someone else.

• Voting yes on Proposition A would not raise the prices of your trash service, Allied Waste has already said they are going to increase the fees in April anyway, and that means the fees will increase whether Proposition A passes or not.

• Voting yes on Proposition A would not remove the recycling service if you want to keep your recycling service. If you want to keep your recycling service with Allied Waste then continue to use Allied Waste, or make the choice of using another company that offers recycling service.

Voting yes on Proposition A will give everyone (not just those who have made it crystal clear they have money to waste) a choice; a choice of who to use for trash service; a choice of using the dumpster at your place of business instead of paying for trash receptacles you don't even use at your house; a choice of sharing a trash receptacle with a family member of friend. And exactly what is wrong with choice.

It has always been required that everyone have a legal method of disposing of trash and that is not going to change with the passing of Proposition A. It will still be required that everyone dispose of their trash in a legal manner. Whether or not Proposition A passes is not going to make a difference in those people that illegally dispose of their trash. Those people are going to continue to do that, just as they do now. The dumpster at my office stays full now of trash illegally dumped there just like it did before Allied Waste became our mandatory trash service.

Vote "yes" for Proposition A.
