Hiring of Jefferson City Community Development director delayed

With an “interim” position, the implication is that someone else will fill that job eventually. But in the case of Jefferson City’s Community Development director, the question is how long is “eventually.”

Last August, Jefferson City’s former director, Pat Sullivan, died after a battle with cancer, leaving a void in the city staff currently being filled by Charlie Lansford, who has no interest in filling the position permanently.

Before taking the position, Lansford was deputy director of Community Development. Currently, he oversees three department directors in charge of planning and transportation services, public works services and wastewater utilities services.
