Seated intimately around a Lewis and Clark Middle School library table in a cozy corner, teachers, mothers and young ladies discussed their latest book of the month, "The Chosen One," by Carol Lynch Williams.

"I thought the writing was really good; it kept moving," said teacher Jeannine Toomey. "There were some parts I couldn't read fast enough."

When Toomey brought up a shocking part of the storyline, the others met with understanding groans and "ohs."
