Dr. David Flood: Nicaragua mission brings challenges to orthopedic surgery

Dr. David Flood spends countless hours in operating rooms, replacing knees and repairing shoulders with cutting-edge technology.

In January, the orthopedic surgeon for Missouri Orthopedic Institute at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City went on his first mission trip out of the country. He said he has done mission work in the United States helping inner city residents and doing charity work in the hospitals he has practiced in throughout his career.

During his trip to Jinoeogga, Nicaragua, Flood was part of a team of four surgeons and six support staff.
