Lincoln strong on mound, at plate, in 8-2 victory

The Lincoln Blue Tigers' offense was in a grove Wednesday, pounding out 15 hits in an 8-2 win over Missouri S&T at Lincoln Field.

Lincoln (6-7) also had four pitchers combine to throw a four-hitter.

Stephen Schnieders picked up the win in relief. Schnieders allowed one run on one hit in two innings while striking out three.

Darren Lasley pitched the first three innings, giving up one hit and striking out three. Ian Fuemmeler worked two innings and allowed one run off two hits, while James Johndrow pitched the final two innings without allowing a hit.

The Blue Tigers got on the board by scoring three runs in the first. They grabbed a 4-0 lead with a run in the second and added a single tally in the sixth and three more in the eighth.

Chris Pfau led the 15-hit effort by going 5-for-5 with an RBI. Adam Rush had three hits, while Adam Brucham went 2-for-3, including a solo home run.

Drew Fannin and Gus Durst drove in two runs each for the Blue Tigers.

Lincoln is back in action at 1 p.m. Saturday at Nebraska-Omaha.
