Cole County salary debate expands

A discussion about salaries in the Cole County Assessor’s office on Wednesday led to a much larger discussion on pay in other county offices.

Assessor Chris Estes told the Cole County Commission that he had sufficient funds to raise the pay for two of his employees. He wanted to get permission to do so from the commission, something Estes said the commission had not let him do since he first brought this up in 2008.
