Former deputy accused of statutory rape

STOCKTON, Mo. (AP) - A former southwest Missouri sheriff's deputy already accused of child enticement and providing intoxicants to a minor is now charged with second-degree statutory rape.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that the rape charge was filed last week against 35-year-old David Seibert. Authorities allege the former Cedar County deputy had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl in 2007 after initiating conversations with her on MySpace.

The child enticement and providing intoxicants to a minor charges were filed earlier this month. In that case, authorities say Seibert provided alcohol to two minors for New Year's Eve. He allegedly asked one of them, a 13-year-old girl, for sexual favors in return.

Seibert was fired as a deputy in 2009, but it wasn't immediately clear why.
