Year later, tunnel to Adrian’s Island awaits OK
Railroad officials review construction plans
Monday, March 21, 2011
Despite the fact that the riverfront project has been identified as a potential redevelopment resource for projects like the “Greening America’s Capitals” grant, Adrian’s Island is awaiting an approval process by Union Pacific railroad officials.
On Feb. 1, 2010, the Jefferson City Council passed 9-1 a three-part series of ordinances authorizing an agreement to create a pedestrian and bicycle path to Adrian’s Island; a $250,000 supplemental appropriation; and an agreement for the tunnel design under the existing railroad tracks to the riverfront.
Adrian’s "island" is a peninsula-like area along the Missouri River bank from near the Capitol east toward the old Missouri State Penitentiary.

Hope it keeps waiting. Please use some of the money to repair some JC streets. Stadium between Myrtle and Carter streeets is not too far from reverting back to a gravel road. East Capitol between Lafayette and Monroe has utility repair cutouts that will loosen teeth fillings and compress spine vertabrae. Same is true for Lafayette between Dunklin and MCCarty streets. This is just a few of many streets that need to be resurfaced, not patched. Please use tax dollars where they are needed most.

Ellis Blvd from the roundabout to Jefferson is horrible as well.
Bald Hill Road from Moreau to Eastland is near gravel road status in many areas. Where the pavement is half-way intact, the utility cutouts are horrific.
Dunklin between Monroe and Moreau is another rough ride from sub-par utility patches and heaving concrete sections.
Jefferson City's streets are in worse shape than they have been in over 40 years. Who is in charge of street maintenance?
