16-run inning keeps Blue Tigers from sweeping Gorillas

The Lincoln baseball team nearly swept its four-game weekend series with the Pittsburg State Gorillas, but a 16-run inning by the Gorillas in the final game doomed the Blue Tigers' chances.

The Blue Tigers had won the previous three games and went into the seventh inning of the final game with an 8-3 lead.

That's when the Gorillas exploded, taking a 19-8 lead that ended prematurely the game that was scheduled for nine innings due to the run rule. Pittsburg State had 15 hits and drew 15 walks in the win.
