Cole County offers to sell Eugene water system for $1

The Cole County Commission made an offer Monday they hope will solve a problem they’ve been wrestling with for 14 years.

Commissioners voted to ask Missouri American Water Co. if it wants to buy the Eugene water system for $1.

Western District Commissioner Chris Wrigley said if Missouri American doesn’t want to get involved, “then we’ll be back at square one.”

Why not sell it to the residents of Eugene and make them run their own water system or else do without water? Why do we have to bail them out?
