Gunshot victim hospitalized; JC police investigating

A man was rushed to a Columbia hospital following an early Saturday morning shooting in Jefferson City.

At 3:50 a.m., the Jefferson City Police Department reports it received numerous phone calls about gunshots being fired in the area of Dunklin and Broadway Streets.

Officers responded to the area to investigate when dispatchers received information from Capital Region Medical Center that a victim of a gunshot wound was transported to their facility.

The victim, a 24-year-old man, was then transported by helicopter to University Missouri Hospital in Columbia. His name and other details were not immediately released.

JCPD detectives are continuing their investigating.
