Chamois advances to Class 1 quarterfinals with win over Tina-Avalon

SEDALIA, Mo. — Neither the Chamois Pirates nor the Tina-Avalon Dragons looked extremely sharp down the stretch in their Class 1 sectional contest on Tuesday.

But you’d have a hard time getting a complaint from the Pirates after their 50-48 victory at Sedalia Smith-Cotton High School.

Because the Pirates “survived,” they’ll get the “advance” part Saturday, moving on to a quarterfinal contest at 1 p.m. at Moberly Area Community College. Chamois’ next foe will be La Plata, which improved to 29-0 with a 49-47 win over Meadville on Tuesday.
