Lynyrd Skynyrd among headliners for State Fair

SEDALIA (AP) - Venerable southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Doobie Brothers are set to play the grandstand at this year's Missouri State Fair.

Gov. Jay Nixon was at the fairgrounds in Sedalia on Tuesday to announce some of the top acts already booked for the fair, which opens Aug. 11.

Skynyrd and the Doobie Brothers will perform Aug. 12, with country music star Jason Aldean on the grandstand the following night. Missouri-based bluegrass group Rhonda Vincent and The Rage are booked for Aug. 17.

Nixon also announced that the 40th annual BMW Motorcycle Owners of America rally will be held at the fairgrounds in July 2012. The governor's office says the rally is expected to bring nearly 10,000 people to Sedalia.
