The muted swish-swish of hundreds of feet slapping the tiny pebbles in-time was a nostalgic sound when Nancy Gibler returned to the Jefferson City High School stadium to see her daughter, Alexandra, march with the Jay Band along the track to the field four years ago.
"The sounds, sights, smells - your memories are tied to those," Gibler said.
The long, hot field show rehearsals; the demand for precision in marching and playing; the drive and pride to deliver an outstanding performance - those are family traditions, not only for the Gibler family, but for the Jay Band family as well.
