On July 1, Penney Rector will begin working for the Jefferson City Public Schools board of education, as the district's new assistant to the superintendent for human resources and in-house counsel.

She currently is legal counsel and a lobbyist for the Missouri Council of School Administrators (MCSA), where she also is responsible for personnel oversight and handles day to day employee matters.

Rector will succeed Julia Sharpe, the district's assistant superintendent for Instruction, who is retiring at the end of June.
