A barge tour would be wonderful but not for $100

Think I'll pass on this one. Might take a canoe, 12 pack of Nattie Lite, some ham sandwiches and chips.

This is for Jeff City ELITE, not for common people. If you even have to think one moment about coughing up $200 for a couple of tickets for this, then you are not really wanted or invited.
Maybe if you pay a little extra, you can sit up in front by the Mayor, the Chamber, and the rest of the Uptown Business Association.

As someone who had just moved here 8 months ago, I was excited to see about the barge tour. I am always interested in seeing what kinds of activites that Jefferson City has to assist with obtaining the history of the city and/or just the activities. I thought that this would be something that my family would be able to attend. When I saw that it was $100 per person, that is way out of my salary range. Considering that most people in Jeff City and the surrounding areas are state employees, we have not had a raise for approximately 3 years and it does not look good for us for the next few years down the road. With gas prices jumping sky high due to somethat that we have no control of, I was upset to see that the city would set up something like this at that cost. Why not have more than one barge going up and down the river, skip the drinks and eats and have it at a cost that everyone wold be able to afford. We are the working class and we are the ones that keep this nation going. And this how you pat us on the back??????

This isn't for working people or state workers.

If it's a foundation, it is surely some sort of fundraiser. I don't see how anyone can blame them for charging $100. It's too much for me, but if they can get that much, and it's for a good cause, why not?
As far as seeing the area by water and having a good time goes, I agree, it would be nice to have the opportunity, but this isn't their business, it's a way to raise money. Sounds like an opportunity for a budding entrepreneur?!

Not sure the JC Council would approve such a new business. A commision would have to be formed, studies would have to be done, it would be tabled for later discussion. Familiar routine?

I like your style JCsleeper.

"ELITE" = "$100" Still can't stop laughing. I think I'm going to rally up my friends with boats and circle the barge in protest. Signs will read "GO HOME ELITISTS" and "WHAT ABOUT THE LITTLE GUY?".

Sounds good to me, how much for a ride in one of those boats? LOL
spelchek 2 years, 2 months ago
For you TraceyT, $100...ELITIST price. I'll supply the beer, sunflower seeds, and bull horn to yell at the barge.
TraceyT 2 years, 2 months ago
Awesome, I can afford that since I'm a state worker and all. Wait... You did say $1.00, right?
spelchek 2 years, 2 months ago
Oops, I put those "..." in the wrong place. I meant $.001. Can you still afford it? I'll even let you steer the boat!

Sounds like a good ole' "booze cruise" to me, but only for the well-to-do folks. "Hey look at me on the barge...throwing my money around" Hope you get sea-sick and come back with skeeter bites!! now thats somthing I'd pay a $100 to see!

I was going to bet that this thing turned out to be a flop, but the baptists won't let me bet on riverboats in this town.
