2 men held in East Side robbery
Saturday, March 5, 2011
Jefferson City police were waiting Friday night for charges to be filed against two men thought to be involved in a Friday morning armed robbery.
Police said the men were 19 and 20, but won’t release their names until charges have been filed.
Police said they were called to the 1100 block of East High Street just minutes after a couple had called 911 to report the robbery “that had just occurred.”
The man and woman — who also were not identified — said they were walking in the area when they were approached by two men about 10:30 a.m. Friday.
One of the men produced a handgun and demanded their property.
The victims said they did as they were told, then — after they handed over their property — they ran from the scene and called police.
No one was reported injured during the robbery.
