While there are still many things Jefferson City officials need to check off the "to-do" list for the development and creation of a conference center, there is one thing in particular they aren't worrying about.
What happens to the property at the corner of West McCarty and Broadway streets?
Currently, plans for the city's conference center place it in a city-owned parking lot on the 200 block of West McCarty Street, at the Broadway Street intersection. However, the city's parking lot is not the only thing located in that stretch.
On the corner of the lot stands a lone property, 229 W. McCarty St. During the city's process of planning for the different potential incarnations of the conference center, the city engaged in discussions to purchase the property, as was done with several other properties on that side of the street.
