Barnes proposes merging state, presidential primaries

Jefferson City freshman Rep. Jay Barnes believes Missouri government could save money if it combined the August primary elections with the quadrennial presidential preference primary.

Barnes has introduced a bill that would move both elections to the Tuesday after the first Monday in June.
