Authorities have identified two bodies found Monday in a Clarksburg home, and they believe the deaths are the result of a murder-suicide.
Both Charles E. Wood, 51, and Judy M. West, 61, died from gunshot wounds to the head, according to preliminary autopsy results.
West's death was ruled a homicide, and Wood's death a suicide.
"These deaths remain under investigation, but it appears at this point to be a murder/suicide," according to a news release from the Moniteau County Sheriff's Department.
The Missouri Highway Patrol also is investigating.
Dispatchers were heard on a scanner calling both agencies to Academy Street in Clarksburg on Monday.
Shortly after the initial calls, officers closed off access to Academy Street except for local residents.
According to other sources, the two may have been dead for a week or more.
