Shuttered Chrysler dealership back in business

WENTZVILLE, Mo. (AP) - Two years after Chrysler shut down its dealership in Wentzville, Mo., Century Motor Corp. is back in business.

The dealership began selling Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep products on Monday. General manager Kevin Mock says his family feels vindicated. Twenty-five people work there - about 20 fewer than when the dealership closed in May 2009.

Century was among 789 dealerships shut down by Chrysler as part of the automaker's bankruptcy plan. Congress mandated that the revoked dealerships be given the option to seek reinstatement through binding federal arbitration. Of 108 dealerships that went to arbitration, 32 won, including Century, which is the only shuttered Missouri Chrysler dealership to reopen.

Chrysler spokesman Mike Palese (Puh-LEECE'-ee) says the bankruptcy process was difficult but successful.
