Sunset date for Missouri regulations proposed

Missouri lawmakers are proposing legislation that would require new state regulations expire after six years.

Republican Sen. Bob Dixon, of Springfield, says an automatic expiration date would give the public more say in state regulations. He also says that it ultimately could save businesses money.

State agencies develop administrative rules for many of the laws the Legislature enacts. Before the rules take effect, the public is allowed to comment on them and a legislative committee can review them.
