Several Jefferson City bars to stage Joplin benefit concert

Joplin has not been forgotten. Nearly six weeks have passed since the tornado damaged roughly 8,000 homes and more than 500 businesses, and relief efforts in the Jefferson City area are still taking place.

Several local bars will host a concert, sponsored by Fechtel Beverage and Major Brands, to raise money for Joplin from 6:30-10 p.m. Saturday. The concert will be held on the corner of Madison and High streets.

The bands performing include Bingo Zippo, Moon Junior and Downside Up. According to Jason Jordan, manager of Mortimer Kegley’s, the music will be “blues and a good blend of old and modern rock and roll.”

Those wishing to contribute to the cause can also bring donations to the following bars: Mortimer Kegley’s, Bones, High Street Pub, Gumbo Bottoms, The Spot and J. Phenny’s Grill and Pub.
