Missouri 179 near Sandy Hook was closed Wednesday due to flooding of the Missouri River, according to Missouri’s Transportation Department.
Northbound and southbound lanes of Missouri 179 in Moniteau County were closed at 6:30 p.m., MoDOT said.
Crews had monitored the water levels and flagged drivers through the area as long as it was “safe for vehicles to cross.” Then barricades were erected to block the road until the waters go back down.
MoDOT said drivers should detour using U.S. 50 and Missouri 87.
Drivers can get the most current road conditions information using the online Traveler Information Map at www.modot.org, or by calling MoDOT’s toll-free customer service center, 1-888-ASK-MODOT (275-6636).
