Cole County Commission moving forward on warning sirens

Cole County commissioners want more information before deciding what steps to take, but they said Wednesday they want to move forward on a countywide emergency warning system.

They told Bill Farr, the Jefferson City/Cole County Emergency Management director, to return July 13 with maps showing both proposed locations for county sirens and the coverage area for Jefferson City’s existing sirens — and to report on the possibility of getting outside funding for buying sirens.

I hope the county plans to include sirens for the city too. City residents are part of the county and pay county taxes, therefore the county has an obligation to provide new sirens for the city.
