Riggleman's decision a bit puzzling

Jim Riggleman made the ultimate of ultimatums Thursday. He stood up for himself. And his boss tossed it right back in his face. When the now former Washington National's manager asked general manager Mike Rizzo to pick up his option for 2012, Rizzo extended him an invitation right out the door.

Riggleman found out the hard way two weeks of winning doesn't erase 12 years of mediocrity.

His declaration to Rizzo got me thinking:
