Trains back on track after Cole Junction accident

Train traffic on the Union Pacific railroad resumed around 8 a.m. Monday morning after an accident on the tracks Sunday afternoon near Cole Junction.

According to railroad officials, around 12:15 p.m. a coal train going from Wyoming to Illinois struck a maintenance vehicle that was on the tracks near the intersection of West and East Cole Junction roads.

No injuries were reported and no one was in the vehicle when it was struck. This occurred on the rail line that goes toward Boonville. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
