Suspect Caught After Foot Pursuit

On Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Jefferson City Police were notified of an assault at Jefferson City High School. According to the victim and witnesses, the suspect pushed a JCHS staff member and then left the building. An officer assigned to the school approached the suspect and attempted to question him regarding the assault, at which time the suspect fled on foot. The officer gave foot chase, and, with the assistance of other responding officers, was able to take the suspect in custody in the 900 block of Jackson.
The suspect, an 18-year old Jefferson City male, was arrested for municipal charges of Assault 3rd degree and Resisting Arrest by Fleeing.
The victim was not hurt in the altercation.

I would think that JCPD has more important things to do than arresting an 18 year old for 'pushing a staff member'.
And yes Amazed, back in my day if a teacher was in a student's face, and that student shouldered past so that they could get out of the situation, while not being 'acceptable', it was certainly understandable and no cops would have been called.

The eighteen year old adult pushed a staff member then chose to flee when the officer attempted to question him or her. That's why he/she got arrested. When you make two stupid choices, it's time to learn what happens.

Back in my day the school would have handled it, no cops needed. If the school couldnt handle me they called mom. OH NO ! dont call mom ! That was worse than callin the cops
