The 150th anniversary of the First Battle of Boonville during the Civil War will be commemorated with a three-day re-enactment today through Sunday at the Dr. Avery Farm Battle Site, 21100 Rocheport Road, Boonville.
Today
• A "Living History" student program will be open 1-4 p.m. today. Chris Edwards will present a multimedia depiction on the life of "Bloody Bill" Anderson with Civil War-era music by Cathy Barton and Dave Para at Thespian Hall, 614 Main St., Boonville.
Saturday
• Camps are open to the public 9 a.m.-11 p.m., as are food vendors and sutlers. Wiliam Berry will present "Missouri at the Opening of the Civil War" at 9 a.m. Living history exhibits and demonstrations will be open at 10 a.m.
• Regimental cavalry, infantry and artillery drills will be ongoing 9 a.m.-noon. Children's games and activities will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. David Chuber from Fort Leonard Wood will discuss "Civil War Medicine" at 10 a.m. Sanford Lee's "The Great American Medicine Show" will begin at noon.
• The re-enactment heats up at 12:45 p.m. with a re-creation of Gov. Jackson, Gen. Lyon and Gen. Marmaduke. Then units for inspection and present colors will be held at 1 p.m. The historical presentation of the battle will be re-enacted at 1:30 p.m. A generic Civil War battle will begin at 2 p.m.
• A Pass and Review parade will be at 3 p.m., and a Meet the Re-enactors will be at 3:30 p.m. Chris Vallillo will present "Abraham Lincoln in Song" at 4 p.m., and Dave Para and Cathy Barton will bring Civil War Music at 5 p.m.
• Muddy River Melodists with Jim Thaxton as caller will host a Civil War Music and Dance from 7-9:30 p.m. And a night firing demonstration will wrap up the evening at 9:30 p.m.
Sunday
• Camps, food vendors and sutlers will re-open to the public at 9 a.m. Sunday. A period church service will be held at 9 a.m. Living history exhibits and demonstrations will resume at 10 a.m. "Abraham Lincoln in Song" will repeat at 10:30 a.m. by Chris Vallillo.
• Regimental drills begin at 11:30 a.m., re-enactors prepare for battle at 12:30 p.m., and the historical re-enactment will begin at 1 p.m. followed by a generic Civil War battle at 1:30 p.m.
