Plenty of offense in All-Star soccer matches

ASHLAND - Perhaps they should have been called the "All-Offense Soccer Games."

Normally, soccer games are low-scoring, defensive affairs. Not so Thursday, as the Fourth Annual Central Missouri All-Star Soccer Games boasted a healthy dose of offense with 16 goals in two games.

It started early in the first game, the girls contest, which ended with the West squad rolling to a 9-0 victory. It ended with the East posting a 5-2 win over the West in the boys game.

Perhaps the biggest beneficiary of the outburst was Moberly coach Robbie Murray, who joined Southern Boone's Chris Miller as the coaches of the event. Murray led the West in the first game and the coaches flipped sidelines in the second, with Murray completing a 2-0 coaching night.
