Obama nominates U.S. attorney for federal bench
Wednesday, June 8, 2011
If the U.S. Senate approves, U.S. Attorney Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Phillips will become a judge for the Kansas City-based U.S. District Court for Western Missouri.
The court has a Jefferson City division that soon will be moving into the new federal courthouse being built at Lafayette and State streets, at the northwestern edge of the Missouri State Penitentiary Redevelopment grounds.
Since 2009, Phillips has been the U.S. attorney for western Missouri, and served as an assistant U.S. attorney in that office in 2008-09.
