Firefighters extinguish playground flames
Monday, June 6, 2011
Jefferson City firefighters extinguished a small fire in the playground of Moreau Heights Elementary School Sunday morning that appeared to be intentionally set.
Assistant Fire Chief Bill Barbour said the 8:47 a.m. fire consisted of smoldering leaves apparently taken off trees. The only damage was slight damage to the ground up rubber tire mulch used on the floor of the playground, he said.
Firefighters suspect children may have ignited the fire.
