Corps of Engineers: Flooding may be summer-long experience

The National Weather Service said today's the day the Missouri River at Jefferson City creeps above its 23-foot flood-stage level.

The Weather Service noted the Missouri was at 22.3 feet Saturday morning, and was expected "to rise above flood stage" this morning "and continue rising to near 23.4 feet Monday morning."

But then, unless there's more rain (which is not in the forecast through next Saturday), the river is expected to drop back below flood stage by Tuesday morning - falling to a little over 21 feet.

Still, in its long-range "hydrologic (movement of water) outlook," the Weather Service said Saturday that ....
