Broken natural gas pipe briefly closes Target
Friday, June 3, 2011
A forklift being used in a storage area broke a natural gas line at Jefferson City’s Target store Friday afternoon, forcing the store to be closed for awhile.
Fire Department spokesman Jason Turner said the building was evacuated immediately, the gas was shut off, and Ameren Missouri crews were called to repair the broken line.
After the store’s air was tested, officials allowed it to reopen.
No injuries were reported, Turner said, and the fire department’s crews were at the store about 40 minutes.
