LOS ANGELES (AP) - Ubaldo Jimenez pitched a four-hitter to win for the first time this season, Todd Helton homered and the Colorado Rockies defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-0 on Wednesday night, snapping a three-game losing skid.
Jimenez (1-5) struck out seven and walked none for the first time this season in his 10th start. He retired 14 in a row during one stretch.
The right-hander owns the lowest road ERA on the Rockies' staff, but it hadn't helped him much. He had received a total of five runs of support in 19 previous innings away from home.
The Dodgers' four hits were all singles. Sluggers Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp were a combined 1 for 8.
Jon Garland (1-5) gave up five hits and three runs in six innings.
Nationals 2, Phillies 1
WASHINGTON (AP) - Laynce Nix hit a homer and made a game-saving catch, helping Nationals starter John Lannan beat the Phillies for the first time in 14 tries.
Lannan (3-5) entered the game 0-10 with a 6.44 ERA against Philadelphia. On a stifling day with temperatures well into the 90s, Lannan pitched into the sixth inning, allowing just an unearned run and four hits to record his first victory in his last eight starts.
Todd Coffey, Doug Slaten, Tyler Clippard and Drew Storen held the Phillies scoreless over the last 3 2-3 innings. Storen earned his 10th save in 11 opportunities.
After scoring 10 runs on Tuesday night - six against Cliff Lee - Washington got two off Roy Oswalt (3-3), who hasn't won since April 21.
Astros 3, Cubs 1
CHICAGO (AP) - Brett Myers allowed one run over six innings, Michael Bourn hit a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh and the Astros beat the Cubs 3-1 to finish off a three-game sweep.
Myers (2-4) won his sixth straight decision against the Cubs, improving to 12-3 with a 2.12 ERA in his career against the Astros' NL Central rivals.
Doug Davis (0-4) matched Myers for six innings, but was responsible for the decisive runs when reliever Sean Marshall gave up Bourn's single with two outs in the seventh. Davis allowed nine hits and struck out five in 6 1-3 innings, his longest outing since April 24 last season.
Davis fell to 3-12 in his career against the Astros.
Braves 4, Padres 3
ATLANTA (AP) - Tommy Hanson went six strong innings on a sweltering night, Freddie Freeman drove in two runs and Martin Prado homered, leading the Braves past San Diego and preventing the Padres from sweeping the series.
Hanson (6-4) allowed just three hits, giving up both runs on Kyle Phillips' two-run homer in the second. Three relievers finished up, with Craig Kimbrel escaping a drive to the wall in the ninth for his 16th save in 20 chances.
The Braves snapped San Diego's season-high four-game winning streak, which included a pair of one-runs victories over Atlanta to start the series. The Padres couldn't finish off their first three-game sweep at Turner Field since the park opened in 1997.
Clayton Richard (2-6) took the loss.
Reds 4, Brewers 3
CINCINNATI (AP) - Jay Bruce and Joey Votto hit two-run homers during Cincinnati's late comeback, and Francisco Cordero got his 300th career save, securing the Reds' win over the Milwaukee Brewers.
The struggling Reds won for only the fourth time in their last 15 games, relying on their two best hitters - and their reliable closer - to pull it out.
Bruce hit his 17th homer in the seventh inning, ending Shaun Marcum's shutout bid. Votto added a two-run shot in the eighth off Kameron Loe (2-5), who hit Brandon Phillips with two outs to bring up the NL's Most Valuable Player.
Nick Masset (1-3) pitched out of a threat in the eighth. Cordero pitched a perfect ninth, becoming the 22nd reliever to achieve 300 saves, tying Bruce Sutter at the mark.
Pirates 9, Mets 3
NEW YORK (AP) - Kevin Correia became the first eight-game winner in the majors and the pesky Pirates scratched out five infield singles in a five-run seventh inning to beat the Mets.
Andrew McCutchen made a dazzling catch in deep right-center and Correia (8-4) pitched six poised innings to help the Pirates improve to 17-14 on the road - matching last season's win total.
Pittsburgh was a major league-worst 17-64 away from home last year, but this season has brought quite a turnaround under new manager Clint Hurdle. Pitching is the prime reason, and Correia is a big part of that.
Chris Capuano (3-6) was a hard-luck loser after carrying a three-hit shutout into the seventh.
Diamondbacks 6, Marlins 5
PHOENIX (AP) - Justin Upton's bloop single to right field with two outs in the bottom of the ninth drove in the winning run in the Diamondbacks' victory over the Marlins.
Willie Bloomquist led off the ninth against Clay Hensley (0-2) with an infield single. Hensley struck out pinch-hitter Sean Burroughs then left with what appeared to be a shoulder injury. Burke Badenhop relieved and Bloomquist hustled to third base on a groundout by Ryan Roberts. After a walk, Upton ended the game with his hit.
John Buck's solo home run in the top of the ninth tied the game at 5 and ended Diamondbacks closer J.J. Putz's franchise record for consecutive saves at 16.
Giants 7, Cardinals 5, 11 innings
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Nate Schierholtz hit a tying single with two outs in the ninth inning, then got the go-ahead hit in the 11th inning as the Giants shook off a poor outing by Tim Lincecum to beat the Cardinals.
The game was delayed for 16 minutes with two outs in the bottom of the 11th when large sections of two light standards failed. When play resumed, Brian Wilson needed one pitch to retire Allen Craig on a grounder for his 15th save in 17 chances.
Cody Ross had four hits and an RBI and Freddy Sanchez had a three-hit game for the Giants, who came from behind twice and won for only the third time in nine games.
