88 percent of Mo. buses approved by Highway Patrol
Thursday, June 2, 2011
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Missouri State Highway Patrol says it approved 88 percent of the school buses it inspected this spring. That’s up slightly from last year’s approval rate of 84 percent.
The patrol inspected slightly more than 12,000 school buses and approved about 10,500, meaning they had no defects.
About 1,200 were rejected, and 243 buses were placed out of service as unsafe to carry students. The buses in that category will have to be repaired and pass another inspection before they’re cleared to transport students.
