Mo. Man drowns in Meramec River

SULLIVAN, Mo. (AP) - A 25-year-old Overland man has drowned in the Meramec River.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that Nicholas Spangler downed Friday night while rope swinging on the river at a campground in Sullivan.

Authorities said Spangler had a history of seizures and that may have caused the accident.

The death was the fifth drowning on the Meramec River in three weeks.
