Death toll in Joplin tornado reaches 160

JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) — The May 22 tornado in Joplin has claimed another victim, bringing the death toll to 160.

Jasper County Coroner Rob Chappel said Thursday that 85-year-old J.T. Strickland died July 8 at a Monett nursing home of injuries he suffered in the tornado.

A funeral home handling arrangements say Strickland was a motel manager and Korean War veteran.
